About Molly - Director of MFL

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved animals. Growing up, I wanted a career where I could ensure as many animals, big or small, receive the best care and the most love.

I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2017 and in 2018, for personal reasons, I fell into the locum world. It wasn't planned and it was supposed to be a short term thing.

But a few months in, I fell in love. I suddenly had the ability to work wherever I wanted, with whoever I wanted and when I wanted! I realised I'm completely in charge of my own life!

The reason it took me months rather weeks or even days to fall in love with my new lease of life was simply that I had no idea what I was doing. There was no help on how to become a locum and for me, the first few months were a struggle until I found my feet.

That is when I created Management For Locums. I don't want others to go through what I did. I don't want you to not take the locum leap because it's scary.

Management For Locums was created in 2019 and since then has helped over 400 veterinary professional become a locum, Full time, part-time, to teach or diverse their income.

I believe in maintaining a positive mindset, creating partnerships with a purpose, and always striving for significant outcomes. When you work with me, you should expect a collaboration with transparency and consistency.

My goal is to help you become your own boss and take back control of your career, your goals and your path.

Imogen Frame

I graduated from Liverpool in 2020 and started straight into equine. My first job was a bit of a whirlwind and after a year it ended with burnout while leaving me unsure if I even wanted to do veterinary anymore. After talking to so many others I realised I was not alone. It was at this point I turned to locum work and found the balance which let me learn to love what I do again.

Prior to veterinary I worked in management and the skills I gained there have been rather redundant until recently when I started helping peers thinking about leaving the profession. I was able to coach and advise them about going into locum work when they were unsure what to do, overwhelmed, or feeling as though they had failed. I realised how much I had missed this aspect of my previous work and at this point I found Management for Locums. This platform has already managed to inform so many, I wanted to be part of a team that helped vets daunted by the idea of going into locum work.

Sarah Mckain

Hi all! I'm Sarah and I'm one of Management for Locum's locum leaders!

I qualified as an RVN in 2017, and have worked in first opinion, orthopaedic referral and 24 hour ECC practice. I have a special interest in ECC and hold a certificate in this too! Since November 2022, I've been locuming in practices around Greater Manchester, so I'm still quite new to locuming but learning so much and absolutely loving all that comes with working for myself. I love to travel the world and also consider myself a casual try hard Crossfitter ha! I've grown up with cats but I have just started fostering dogs with my partner too!

I feel very privileged to be trusted in this role, working alongside the amazing Molly, and the other amazing locum leaders! I am very keen to help other locums like myself as I know how daunting it can be to start with, and if there is something I don't yet know, I will make sure to find out! I look forward to meeting you all and helping with any questions or problems you may have.

Miranda Timmerman

I graduated as a vet from the University of Bristol in 2017 and worked in West
Wales as a farm vet until 2021. During this time I completed my Certificate in
Advanced Veterinary Practice in Production Animals and set up an educational
social media account aimed at opening the farm veterinary profession up to a wider
audience, as well as educating farmers and vet students.
Since 2021 I started locuming and have worked across the UK from Orkney to South
Wales, moving to work in New Zealand while completing my Nuffield Scholarship in
anthelmintic resistance in sheep. My travels have taken me to farms on 5 continents
while continuing my commitments on the Sheep Vet Society and Welsh British
Veterinary Association committees. I wanted to be a locum leader to help farm vets
take control of their work if they decide a permanent position isn’t for them. When I
started locuming there were very few farm vet locums and I want to help people to
realize that this is a viable option for our part of the profession.
Outside of work enjoy hiking and travelling, having started climbing 14ers as well as
tackling the scree fields of New Zealand.

Emma Ruggles

My name is Emma and I’m a CertVNECC APVN (Wildlife and Zoo Animals) Registered Veterinary Nurse, as well as being qualified with my Level 3 Certificate in Small Animal Hydrotherapy

I have worked in the Veterinary Industry for 9 years and qualified as an RVN in 2016

I’ve worked as a Locum RVN since June 2018 and in that time as well as locumming across the U.K. I have travelled and worked/volunteered in South Africa, the Cook Islands, New Zealand, Australia and Thailand

I qualified as a Small Animal Hydrotherapist as of March 2022

I am currently working as a locum RVN in both ECC OOH clinics as well as day practice

I spent 10months working as a small animal hydrotherapist at a specialist animal rehabilitation centre in 2022. Unfortunately I am currently not working as a small animal hydrotherapist however this is a field I am still very passionate about and one I am keen to return to in the future when the right opportunity comes up

In terms of animals of my own I have a yellow lab, a little black cat and a horse (that I loan)

I am very excited to have joined Molly and Management For Locums as one of the locum leaders and I’m looking forward for what’s to come. Hoping we can make a real impact in the way veterinary professionals locum and practices book/advertise for locums to create a more streamlined process and direct approach for everyone! There’s a lot of different things going on in the background already, so watch this space!

Hannah Lewis

I have benefited from having clinical experience in both Australia and the UK which helps me truly understand my candidates and be able to relate to them on a professional level.

From there I've worked myself from a trainee to Recruitment Manager at a larger agency before starting my own agency during maternity leave with my second child.
